Tiny Toes
Yarn: fingering weight (between 100 - 120 yards)
Needles: Size 1 (2.25mm) DPN's
Magic Cast on 12 stitches.
Toe:
Row 1: knit, dividing evenly onto 4 DPN’s
Row 2: Needle 1: kfb, knit to end of needle. Needle 2: k to the last stitch, kfb. Needle 3 & 4: repeat directions for needles 1 & 2 (a total of 4 stitches increased)
Row 3: knit
Row 4: Needle 1: k1, m1, k to end of needle. Needle 2: k to last stitch on needle, m1, k1. Needles 3 & 4: repeat directions for needles 1 & 2 (a total of 4 stitches increased)
Repeat rows 3 & 4 until you reach 40 stitches total.
Foot:
Knit 10 rows
Gusset:
Gusset Row 1: Needles 1 & 2: knit. Needle 3: k1, m1, k to end of needle. Needle 4: k to last stitch on needle, m1, k1 (a total of 2 stitches increased)
Gusset Row 2: Knit
Repeat Gusset Rows 1 & 2 four more times, for a total of 10 stitches increased.
Turn Heel:
Knit to the end of Needle 2. Heel will be worked over sts on Needle 3 and Needle 4, starting on Row 1, below.
Row 1 [RS]: K all stitches on needle 3, K 6 stitches on needle 4, m1, k1, wrap & turn
Row 2 [WS]: P all stitches on needle 4, p 6 stitches, m1p, p1, wrapt & turn.
Row 3 [RS]: K all stitches on needle 3, K 4 stitches on needle 4, m1, k1, wrap & turn
Row 4 [WS]: P all stitches on needle 4, p 4 stitches, m1p, p1, wrap & turn.
Work 1 round over all sts on all needle, when you first reach center of the heel m1, ending at point between Needle 3 and Needle 4 (center of heel). When you encounter a wrapped stitch, pick up the wrap and place it on your left needle, then knit it together with the stitch which it had wrapped.
Heel Flap:
K 9 sts on Needle 4, ssk. Turn work; do not wrap stitch.
Next Row [WS]: Sl 1, p all stitches on needle 4, p 10 stitches on needle 3, p2tog. Turn work.
Next Row [RS]: [Sl 1, k1] 10 times, ssk. Turn work.
Repeat these 2 rows, ending when you ssk the last stitch on needle 4.
Next Round: Work all sts on Needle 1 and Needle 2; k2tog, k to last 2 stitches on Needle 3, k 2 tog, k to end of round. 40 sts.
Cuff:
Work 1x1 Rib for 20 rows.
Loosely bind-off
