While visiting my parents a few weeks ago, my dad and I sat down to watch the Opening Ceremonies of the winter Olympics.
Enjoying the show, my dad commented that he liked the hats the American athletes were wearing. "Could you make something like that?" It just so happened that I was taking a class to learn the technique the following day.
After a quick search on Ravelry, I discovered someone had already taken the time to chart out a pattern. It was a great project to reinforce what I had learned in class. Back in the city, I went to my LYS for yarn and went to work.
My hats are slightly different from those Olympian hats. I made the trees taller and added a few snowflakes. This helped eliminate some very long strands of color on the inside of the hat. Made Dad's first, a few more adjustments then made one for myself. They were fun to make, and more fun to see us in our matching Daddy-Daughter hats.
